I did that very same thing for my DS's first deployment. It had all 200 days up! it was actually really depressing to see at the start but near the end it was so exciting and HE loved to tear one down every morning!

yeah my kids are still to young to understand the value of time so when i would tell them daddy isnt coming home for a year they didnt understand and would ask me everyday "isnt daddy supposed to be home by now?" so i finally had to do something so that they would actually see how ling he will be gone for and also for them to have something everyday that will remind them that we are one day closer.
