Baby & Deployment
I'm due while my DH is on deployment. He will NOT be coming home for the birth. I don't want him to get home and him/her not recognize my DH so are there any suggestions on how to make this process easier? Like is there anything I should do. I'd hate for my DH's voice or face or something to scare the baby.

Just make sure the baby gets used to being held by a lot of different people, so he/she won't think it's odd to be held by Dad when he gets back. If you're worried about the voice recognition, have Dad make some voice recordings or little video clips so baby gets to hear his voice. First deployment, my husband left when my DD was an infant and came back right after her first birthday. We had no issues at all with him reintegrating. She had seen his picture a thousand times and I played videos for her. When they're that young, it's actually a blessing because they don't really know anything.

You could videotape him reading the baby a story. If you don't have a camera, most military libraries do it. If you do have a camera you could get him to read 5 or 10 stories and rotate through them during the deployment.
You could also do a talking picture frame that has multiple phrases. Or a build a bear with a voice recording. |
