Safe Forums for Military kids?

My 9 year old and I were talking about DH's upcoming deployment - what we did last time, how to make it easier this time, etc. We are a Guard family so we pretty much have each other to depend on - none of his friends have any idea of the things that he worries about, hears about or anything like that. While he knows that he can talk to me, his older sisters, and a couple of special teachers - he said that he wishes there was a forum for kids like him.

Does anyone know of any SAFE forums out there? I am not adverse to spending my upcoming freetime setting something up, but could really use some advice for keeping it SAFE for our kids.

Hmm..., but I think that would be a great for my kids to have also.
We are also a reserve family, and my kids have a hard time coping and being able to share thier hardships with people that just dont understand.

It is pretty cool, but I can't see where the kids can talk to other kids. Am I missing something?

Those are both great sites - but he really wants someplace where he can go and talk to other kids - like we do here.

I have been looking for an hour now and can't find what I am looking for.

Guess I am going to have to look into setting one up myself.

Im a assistant manager of a Police wives msn group and we are very strict about letting people in, so let me get with the main manager and hopefully she can give me some tips on how we could keep a site safe for the kids.

I have a couple of ideas - and am even willing to look into paying for the site service if it is reasonable and more secure.

I will ask the owner of the site I help moderate too.
