decorating people, I need help!

There is a large window in my new livingroom. It has mini blinds on it. No one can really see into this window because there is a cliff that goes down to the lake behind my house. I really want to put up something on the window to add some color and make it look homey.

This is my sectional. What color do you think I should put with it?




Also, I was thinking of sheers, just something to add a little color. Are they stupid? Maybe something like this? a different color?

It's hard to tell what colors are exactly in your sectional.... best bet would be to pick the darker color in it and make a valance that tapers down on the sides and is somewhat straight at the top, then under it use the sheers to soften it and add some depth and dimension.... of course if you want it to be a little heavier, but not so dark you could use the lighter color (but still strong) and then make the drapes longer with the taper so that the window is still open with the valance and use the sheers just to cover the blinds... HTH

If you have light wood furniture I would with a grey color. If you have dark wood furniture I would with a mauve or more maroonish tone. What color is your carpet?

If your sectional blocks the window I wouldnt go to long and I wouldnt do a valance. I would just go with plain sheers.

The sectional wont block the window, the floor vent is there.

It has some mauve/red/orange spots and some bluish spots.

I was thinking mauve or rose or a blue/gray.

The carpet is a dark grey with colors in it.

I think I'm gonna take another trip down there tomorrow with the kids and I'll take some pics
