Pest control vs commercial product treatment

    Advertisements
I just started renting a house and I've been having a pretty severe roach issue since I moved in. I've done a full interior perimeter spray with a household spray, exterior spray and exterior bait traps. I haven't seen a live one in the house in about a week, but dead ones are turning up every day and when I go outside at night I always see a ton of live ones around.

I'm tying to decide if I should keep up with the home treatments for a little while longer or go for professional pest control. Is pest control a lot more effective than just normal sprays you'd get at Home Depot? Do you still find dead ones in your house? Is there an effective solution for killing them outside? Pest control isn't covered under my lease so I want to make sure it's worth the price.

I'd call and see if someone could come out and do a free assessment.

We have pest control come out as often as we want with our base rental and I truly do notice a difference. We have them come about 3 times a year at the big season changes. I do still find them in dead in the house after they spray, but dead bugs are fine with me.
Never do anything halfway unless you want to be half happy.

Is this a dream? If it is, please don't wake me from this high. I'd become comfortably numb
until you opened up my eyes to what it's like when everything is right...I can't believe you found me ♥

Id go with a professional if its a severe roach issue... those things dont die. They could bug bomb your house and clean up. I think at first it might be a little more expensive, but in the long run save you money from buying stuff from home depot every week.

Describing it as severe is kind of dramatic. It's not like they are covering the house or anything. Severe to me is seeing at least 2-3 a day alive or dead.

We had a mice problem in Colorado one year and it was DEFINITELY worth having pest control come out. Our landlord covered that though.
