    What are your must haves?

For when you move in to a new home.

We are getting a new house (well to us didn't have one built) in the next week or two hopefully. So I need to make a shopping list of must haves. We still have all our things from ya know every other place like furniture, wall decor (pictures/painting). I bought new dishes and we have new appliances coming. I also bought new bedding and will get new pillows when we move.

    So what say you?

I'm going to stalk this because we're hopefully closing on a house in the next week or so

Besides baby stuff, I think I would really love to get a new couch and TV stand.

Thankfully the house comes with nice blinds but curtains are planned after I get all the colors for the walls and such finished. That is also covered....new paint. Shelves and such are a good idea, I hadn't thought of those.

Light bulbs, because every time I've moved into a new place (even the house we built) there were bulbs out/missing.

    Lining for shelves/drawers.

    Locksmith to rekey all doors.

Probably not necessary but we replaced all the batteries in the smoke detector just because it made me feel better about it. We also replaced the filters for the AC

I prefer to wait until we are moved in, and usually until we've been on a place for a few weeks, to see how we live in the space and where all our current furniture ends up. Often we'll find that we need a trash can, a paper towel holder, spice rack, storage piece, etc., but we don't usually know that for a couple days or even a couple weeks after we've moved in.

That said, I usually have a box of things like paper towels, basic cleaning supplies, toilet paper, a couple light bulbs, batteries, and hand soap, so we can function from the moment we move in.
