    Painting

    Advertisements
I'm assuming there are people here who have painted the walls in their house. We painted 2 walls last year and my issue with it is i can see the marks from the painting. I realize that pros have tools that allow this to not happen, but is there anything i can do or use that will help my walls not have roller marks etc from painting? Any other tips for painting? I'm planning to repaint over some of our other walls next month

We just painted rooms ... I felt like I had to press really hard with the roller to stop it from making marks. But our walls are textured so that probably helped too.

Our walls have some texture???, to it, i think, but we have the basic paint that the painters put on it, so wiping etc is really hard to do with these walls

Do you paint up and down or do do X's?

DH also said to make sure you're putting on light coats - too much paint can leave marks

Make sure to paint in a V and/or X, not up and down

Thanks! Ill try those! I read some where to do a W last year.

The paint is pretty light to begin with so it requires 2-3 coats anyways!

Another thing that might make a difference is the finish of the paint...the shinier it is, the more light reflective, and therefore the more likely to show imperfections.

We always have to do 2 coats of paint to avoid streaks and marks. If you're going over a darker base, you may need 3.
