    What Size Slow Cooker??

    Advertisements
I asked my parents for a crock pot/slow cooker for Christmas and they want to know what kind. What size is a good size to get? I mainly cook for myself since I live on my own, but would still like something big enough to cook for a couple people if I have to. I was thinking a 5, 6 or 7 quart?

Also does anyone have a preference between Hamilton Beach and Crock-Pot?

    I have 4 crock pots....

My opinion.. no size is too small.. even a big one you can still cook smaller recipes in....

And no, the brand doesn't matter... whatever is cheapest is what i go by...

I would get the bigger one, even if you don't use it at full capacity at times. It's always nice to have bigger, just incase. I had a smaller one and upgraded.

I have a 7 or 8 quart, plus a little dip warmer. I love them both.

I agree better to go bigger rather than smaller! I have a small one and a big one (I don't know the sizes though) and I use them both all the time! I love the big one for when I have a big recipe or am cooking for a pot luck or something.

Okay thanks for the input! I think i'll go with the 7 quart one and I saw some that were portable so I like that.

This one is only 6 quart, but we love it, because of the programmable thermometer Hamilton Beach® 6-Quart Programmable Slow Cooker - BedBathandBeyond.com

I have a 5 and a 7 quart Hamilton Beach brand slow cooker. I love both for different reasons, the 7 quart is awesome for when I make soups or big dinners for 2-5 people the smaller is great for when I make dips (queso) and such for family gatherings. I use them both regularly.

The one feature that I would say is important to me is the feature where it sets the slow cooker to "Warm" after the time has run out this way if something cooks for 7 hours but I don't get home and until 3 hours after that it doesn't continue to cook on high heat the slow cooker switches it over to warm and just keeps it at a warm temp for serving.

Oh that's something to keep in mind. I'm pretty sure the one i decided on has that feature but I'll go double check!
