    Cleaning out the Oven

    Advertisements
    Haaaaaaaaaalp!

I know there is a "clean" setting on the oven. But I have never had to clean one out before. I'm asuuming that I would wipe it out and get the big pieces of things out of it, but then what? Do you just turn the oven on the clean setting? Do you need a cleaner?

I suck at having my own place.

My oven doesn't have a "clean" setting so when I clean my oven I just spray it down with oven cleaner and then go to town!

Lock the front door of the oven, set the self cleaning setting (It normally takes 6-8 hours), once it's cooled down then you just wipe out everything that's in the oven. The self-clean normally just burns everything off the oven so you can wipe it out afterward.

OMG and to heat the hell out of your house. I don't know where you live but we're in Texas and when we set the self clean on we were in the house during the day while it was running moving stuff out and it heated the whole damn house up!

Basically, it just heats the hell out of the inside of the oven so that all the dirt burns. So yes, it heats up your house, and yes, it smells like every food you've ever eaten, set on fire.

I think DH just gets that strong oven cleaner stuff, lets it sit a few minutes and then scrubs. I obviously don't know for sure though, because I have never cleaned any of my three current ovens, nor the previous ovens

When I was at my parents' house, they cleand it. In the dorms, someone else cleaned it. My old house, I moved out before my roommates did, so they cleaned it. I have never done it!
