    Housewarming Parties?

    Advertisements
So, since we're getting a new house, I'd like to have a housewarming party. I've never had or been to one but I think it'll be a good way for our family/close friends to see the new digs once the house is finished....how does that stuff normally work? Like I do I need to do formal invites or do I need to just spread by word of mouth we're BBQing and inviting people over?

It's up to you! My husband and I would just spread the word about a BBQ we are having at our new place but that is how we are. We would feel weird sending out invitations.

I feel like I would too we're not incredibly formal people. I just wanted to do a big get together, mostly because this is the first house where we'll actually have SPACE to do a big get together

That's true...then I could let people know to bring their own alcohol we'll have beer and stuff but we're not liquor drinkers and I know some of our family is.

Totally! And then you could explain more why you want everyone there and blah blah blah instead of being like, "Yo bitches, come to our new house!"

Yeah I'd just send out Facebook invites or call people. Unless its gonna be a formal sit down dinner type I think sending physical invitations would be kinda wasteful.

I'm a nerd and get excited buying invites, so if I had the funds, I'd buy some casual looking invites. I also feel awkward calling people and telling them stuff like that, so an invite makes me more comfortable. But I'm weird, and I know that . Word of mouth/facebook invite seems totally acceptable
