Can I wash this?

I have a really nice down comforter that my dog chewed a nice size hole in so the feathers started coming out. I taped it with duct tape to hold it off until I got a new bed set. So now I don't really know if I can put it in the washing machine. Should I just put it in the washer anyway? It's not going back on my bed... it's more of an extra comforter now for whatever.

I would try an iron on patch before washing, it will stay put in the washer.

I would do a little something more that would help ensure it stays together in the washer.
