my husband wants one of these for Christmas. But I am stuck on which one to get him. Which is better to get The Classic or the Artisan?

What does he do with it - ie a lot of heavy stuff, high volume, etc? What sort of other uses (attachments) would he like to be able to use?

I don't have an answer- just wanted to say that I wish my husband even knew what a Kitchenaid Mixer was.

I'm not sure which one it is, but get the one that tilts so you can take the mixers off. I had the one that didn't & it drove me nuts!

As stated, depends mostly on what he does with it. If you're interested, look into the Classic Plus. It is the same size bowl as the Classic but the motor has a little more power, and the price is only a little more than Classic but still far below the Artisan price level.

The one that has the lift for the bowl on it is awesome. It makes things so much easier. I think that's the professional one though, which I think are more expensive.

What kinds of things will you be using it for?

Awesome Kitchenaid story btw. My mom has always had KitchenAid mixers. The last Classic one she had, the motor burnt out within like a year and a half. Since she used it mostly for bread, it wasn't really all that surprising, though it was a lot sooner than most of the KitchenAids she has had. She called them up just to ask how to get it repaired. To her surprise they asked her "What color would you like?" They were sending her a brand new mixer free of charge! Even better, when she got it, they had sent her a professional one! A really big upgrade from a Classic.

Another thing OP, check on your counter and storage space. I know with the Professional one it is pretty tall and heavy.
