    Upholstery cleaners?

    Advertisements
I am just curious how many of you have either bought or rented upholstery cleaners? If you rented where from?

Did you have microfiber couches? How well did it work?

I have microfiber couches and they stink like dog. We use to live on a muddy farm where our lab would go outside to pee and take his sweet time to come back despite me calling him back. And he would come back soaking wet from rain. I'd try and dry him off but he would end up still damp and laying on the couch.

Anywho dh and I want new couches but we don't want to put the money out right now and with Tristen coming I don't want to put money out for couches that will get puked and spilt on.

Dh is worried that if I rent an upholstery cleaner it'll make it worse because the couches will absorb the water.

Any tips or advice is appreciated!!!

I haven't done it, but maybe you could try one of the powders that you sprinkle on and vacuum off so it doesn't get wet?

    I just pulled this

"Second, the owner must be aware that while microfiber furniture can repel water, still, a big problem would occur should the water seep through the couch. That is why one must act immediately in case of water spills on the sofas"

from this site Cleaning Microfiber Couch

Sounds like a large amount of fluid isn't a good idea

Best if you have them professionally cleaned (try Stanley Steamer) and invest in some slipcovers. If you do decide to do it yourself I suggest using Woolite Extra Delicate Care and a soft hand brush. Make sure you vacuum the couches before you clean them. Also baby wipes gets stains off the microfiber couch, than just dry the spot with a towel.

Here are some good slipcovers: Sofa Slipcovers | Sure Fit Slipcovers

You can choose from either Relaxed Fit or Form Fit.

Also this will help tremendously with your pooch: Pet Throws and Covers

I have a microfiber set in my living-room and all my pieces are covered in Form Fit slipcovers. Each slipcover is machine washable and won't shrink.

I also have this for the car: Sure Fit - Auto Friend Hammocks
