    IKEA couch/love seat, anyone?

    Advertisements
Dh and I are looking for new living room furniture for our new home and were considering the IKEA Ektorp couch because the cover is removable and washable. Between the kids and the dogs, we don't want to spend a fortune and would love the washable covers. Does anyone have this style, if so, how is it wearing?

(the real downside to IKEA is that we have my inlaws pick it up and bring it to us... I love them tho, so I guess it really isn't a downside )

I have the leather brown one and have had it for 4 years- it wears great and I have a dog that sits on it. I eat on it and everything lol and no problems- I've also moved it twice in a truck. I also have the ottoman. Both look like new still

I have that particular couch, in the L shape. We got it for its removable covers. So far it is doing great, but its only a couple of months old. Good thing about it, it came in pieces, so it was easy to maneuver into the house. Only pain in the butt part was putting all the covers on! The whole thing was only a little over $1000, which I say is pretty good. Even if the cover does get ruined, new ones aren't even that much.

I was actually talking to a neighbor about this couch yesterday!

She got the corner one last summer for her basement. She has twin girls going into 6th grade that have friends over all the time and a dog that she can't get the girls to understand keeping him off of the furniture. She had the covers outside drying, she said the cushions have held up great and she loves that the covers come off for cleaning, but said it was a pain in the butt to wrestle them back on.

She did say that one of her kids friends jumped on it and messed up a leg somehow but the kids mom was able to go to IKEA and get a replacement for them and they fixed it with no problem.
