    Help Dark or Light?

    Advertisements
So I am having a serious issue with picking out bedroom furniture. DH and I decided that we would just go with a simple IKEA set, now my issue is color.

They have a "black-brown" color which I originally loved, however the same thing in white is nice as well.

No idea what colors I am doing in the room yet, will be getting new bedding so everything will start from scratch. Just put up white blinds, but will be getting curtains to match whatever bedding/color scheme I do in there...

I would be getting one 8-drawer dresser, one 6-drawer dresser, one 3-drawer dresser, and 2 night stands.

    HELP!!!

    White:

    Black-Brown:

Only difference/downside is that if I go with white I can't get the night stand I really want (last link, black-brown)

Personally I like the dark better because it's easier to clean and doesn't look as dirty as white can. Especially with dirty fingers haha.

I like the darker furniture, if you'd like to brighten up the room you can always do a bright pastel comforter and/or white lamps and picture frames to brighten up the dressers!

    good luck!

I vote dark for the same reason HisByzantineLove said AND - ok, bare with me here -

The furniture is the "masculine" aspect of our bedroom and it looks totally awesome with whatever accents I want to add to make it "feminine." Like comforter sets, pillows, artwork etc. I can change those things out easier than the bedroom set. Does that make sense, or am I nuts? Or both?

I have that whole set in white but my room is full of light and pink, so it works. I think it really depends what color you choose for your walls, sheets, accent colors, etc.

Dark dark dark! I loooooooooove dark bedroom furniture. But it also depends on what overall feel you're going for in the room. I personally feel like dark is more modern/sophisticated, whereas light is more classic/home-y (but I could just be crazy ). I like light furniture in guest rooms.

Sadly I have to get the furniture before I can get the accent stuff How do you like it? How long have you had it? It hold up well?

I am going for a very "homey" feel, but I want it to also look sophisticated

My look has been titled "Modern Country" if that helps any....
