If you have pergo flooring, what are the pros & cons?
if you were looking to buy a home, would you prefer pergo or regular hardwood floors? we are looking to get rid of the hideous tile floors in our kitchen and dining room. ETA: we have oak hardwood upstairs. would it be strange to have pergo downstairs and HW upstairs?

Hardwood. Longer life. Every 10 years, it can be sanded down and refinished. it also looks better. I can always tell pergo from wood.
Pergo can warp, hardwood not as easily, especially in kitchens and bathrooms. Hardwood adds a higher resale value for the home. Hardwood costs a lot more to install. A Lot more.

i have hardwood now (in a rental) and they are terrible, big gouges (i think too big to be sanded and redone..?)...
I had pergo in my house, and I LOVED it!! You have to get the good stuff tho, not just some cheap knock off. It never scratched, dented, ect ect.. I would do it again next time I buy!!! We even had an outside area for smoking that had pergo, someone dropped thier smoke and it burnt out on my floor.. didn't scorch the floor, wiped up with a wet cloth |

We have original hardwoods in house we just bought. I think they are prettier and they look better. We do need to refinish the floors upstairs though. |
