Keeping towels smelling fresh - Homemakers Homemaking

How do you keep towels smelling fresh? sometimes they smell mildewy when we get out of the shower. i don't understand this. this includes towels i am just pulling out of the closet. i wash them regularly, put them in the dryer right away so they dont spoil in the wash, so that's not the problem, and i just am at a loss for what else to do. all my other clothes smell great, but the towels dont. is it maybe cause he didn't take good care of them before i moved in?

Have you tried air drying them outside or pouring vinegar in with towels.?!

I second the vinegar that really helps. Also making sure they are completely dry before folding and putting away.

i have not. i think i will try the vinegar solution next. thank you. Anyone else?

Wash them with vinegar? or put it in the washing machine and run an empty load?

what kind of washer do you have?
I have to run a load of just bleach water in mine monthly (front loader) bc the gaskets tend to get yucky..

you can also keep sache's of smelly stuff in your linen closet, or fabric softer sheets on the sides of the walls in there..

When I fold and put my towels away, I tuck bounce sheets inside of them.

Sometimes when my clothes REALLY need a good washing I do white vinegar and baking soda in addition to my regular detergent. I even let it soak, although I don't know what the CORRECT way to do it is.
