Ikea furniture? - Homemakers Homemaking

DH and I are getting our first house soon, and we really don't have any furniture. I want to make sure we get quality pieces that we really like and will have for a long time, instead of going out and buying the first set we see just because it's cheap. I really like the sofas and sectionals at Ikea, but we were there a couple weeks ago and sat in them and they just seemed really small. DH is 6'2" or so, and he looked like a giant when he sat down! Has anyone else noticed this, or are we crazy?

Has anyone bought furniture from Ikea, specifically chairs/sofas/sectionals? What did you think?

We've got a chair from them that we love...it is super comfy and pretty sturdy. Their cheaper sofas always seemed uncomfortable and small to me.

DH is 6'1" and he fits in our sofa from IKEA. Maybe it was just the one you were looking at.

My entire apartment is furnished with Ikea stuff. I've had most of this stuff for at least 7 years and it's still in pretty good shape. My couch is pretty small though and I'm only 5'4", but I have a pretty cheap couch. My bed is Ikea too and I've had that for almost 10 years and it's still in awesome shape!

Our sofa is Ikea and DH and I slept on it for several days before our mattress arrived and we had no problem fitting on it. It's a pullout sofa btw.

I have my dining room set from there, its moved with us from germany to KY to CO to KS and is still in great shape. Our couch didnt survive the first move, but we had gotten a cheap one so we kinda expected it to happen. Over all Im happy with the quality of furniture.

LOL This company originated in Sweden and they had to re-do a ton of their designs to fit "the bigger sizes in American"(taller and wider)....we have a ton of stuff but not a couch bc we could not find a good modern looking one we liked.

I would say this one has the tallest back out of the ones we tried

We eneded up getting our couches from JC Penny during this CRAZY home sale. We eneded up with both couches for $700. BARGAIN.

I would keep your eyes open for good homesales at Department stores!
