Packed Lunches? - Homemakers Homemaking

So im starting my student observation at an elementary school on Friday. This school is about an hour from my house and in the middle of no where, so there are no fast food places or anything like that, that i could ride to and back during lunch time. The school day is from 8-2:30 and im at a loss. I have no idea what to bring for lunch. I really dont want to buy lunch there because for adults its $5, I know i sound cheap, but that adds up, considering its far i also have to worry about gas for my car. So what should i bring? What would last? I have no idea what time lunch is, but im assuming its before 12:15, because thats when the students go to their specials. Any ideas please!

I always bring a lunch to work. Actually DH makes it

. I have pb&j an apple, osme snacks like rice cakes, pretzels, etc. and a water bottle.

Any kind of sandwich should last until lunch time...maybe put an ice pack in there. Do they have a microwave in the teacher's lounge? Most do...so any kind of microwaveable meal?

Im not sure about the teachers lounge, i havent been to the school yet, but im assuming it would have one and also a frige/freezer im hoping

Switching up the kinds of bread that you make sandwiches with helps alot! If you use different kinds, like 12 grain, french, foccacia, bagel sandwiches, rye. I like all those.

Leftovers, make for great lunches where microwaves are available.

Also, if you don't feel like placing your lunch in the fridge, you can also resort to using an ice pack.

If there's a freezer, then you can always bring a frozen meal to microwave.

Cup o' noodles are awesome too!

Just think about what you brought to school when you were a kid.

Sandwiches, but pack allthe ingridentes seperate. like your lunchmeat and lettuce tomato/mayo condiments in one ziploc bag and the bread in another. keeps it from getting soggy!

Freaky! That is the only way i will consider bringing a sandwhich!

the soggy factor freaks me out
