Coupon Boner!

So, I am now officially OBSESSED with coupons.

I signed up for a Grocery Game trial.... and was totally skeptical until I started doing the math. I subscribed to 4 stores (they're all super close by our house, so it's not a big deal to hop around a bit for deals )..... and HOLY COW I cannot believe what a HUGE difference coupons make!!!

I did the math.... compared the regular price... to the sale price... to the sale price with coupons..... WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We went to Albertson's.... I had a list planned out... bought $63 in groceries for $22 And I think my total shopping list for the three other stores... I'll be buying $230 in groceries.... for $109. WOW!!!!!!!

I also did the "labor" math. It took me about 3 hours to cut & organize the coupons that'll save me $120. So that's.... $30 saved for each hour of work.

Considering I make $12/hour at my job... I am TOTALLY okay with saving myself 10 hours of paycheck going to groceries, by spending 3 hours per week cutting coupons

OMG, I'm seriously so excited though!!!!!!

Finally.... an outlet for my obsessive compulsive shopping tendencies!!!!

OMG AND............. forgot to add....

I read the local ads when I got home.... Safeway is QUADRUPLING COUPONS up to $.25 this week.....

I'm going to stockpile like a MOFO!

How does this Grocery Game work? Do they just give you coupons or something? I'm confused lol =P

Well, I'm new, so I'm still learning....

But basically, they publish lists every week or so of the sales in stores..... then tell you which coupons & stuff you can stack on the sales to save even more money. It also tells you where you can find those coupons... the sunday paper, coupon brochures, etc.

So..... for example.... let's say I want to buy some Laundry detergent.

The regular price of the detergent is $10.

One week it happens to go on sale at Albertson's for $8. ($2 off)

There is also a manufacturer coupon in the newspaper that's good for $2 off.

So..... you stack the coupon on the already discounted price.... $10-2-2 = 6.

So instead of paying the full price of $10, you got it for $6.... because you used a manufacturer coupon the week it was already on sale.... and saved more

Yeah... pretty much. It's nice to have it all laid out. I go through and check the items I use.... then compile a custom list.... then compare it to the coupons I have (they're all organized in a binder)..... and voila!

Totally dorky... but I'm okay with saving a few hundred each month

I totally tried grocery game and couldn't get it. I was so confused. Probably doesn't help that my mom was trying to figure it out too and she doesn't have patience for it so it just frustrated me... so... boo.
