I bought the kind that goes in the cupboard and runs on tracks so you can pull it out. Lillian and the dog were getting into the regular trash all the time so putting in the cupboard was a great solution for me even though it's smaller.

The one we have right now is a no go. It's a plastic white one with a crummy lid that ALWAYS falls off! I used to have a really nice silver metal one with the foot thingy to lift the lid. It was sort of pricey, but very sturdy and good for odor blocking! It's just me and my boyfriend so we don't have much garbage, but you know how the kitchen garbage can get... I'd reccommend one that seals pretty tightly.
