We tried it for a while but the recipes we picked weren't always great for nights that we didn't want to cook. We both work full time (technically because of the lunch/pt time the navy gives DH I work 2 hours more a day than DH does) and most of the time want something quick and easy. Maybe once we tweak the plan it will work better for us.

I am a big meal planner. It helps me plan what I need to buy when grocery shopping and also eliminates having to decide what to cook for dinner when I get home from work at night. My method is just to go through my cookbooks and decide what I feel like making during the week. If we are going to have a slow weekend I look for items that I can prepare ahead of time to cut down on the cook time during the week. Casseroles are super easy!

I just make a calendar and fill it in for each day for the month. I make extra's to freeze and on a night that I am to tired to cook just take out a frozen leftover and heat it up.

I also put $20 with the menu, for a pizza night.

    Yes I do
We have a monthly menu, including leftover days.
I buy everything needed for the month, but everyone can pick what they want to eat as long as it's on the menu.

    It usually consist of

    soup or appetizer
    Main dish
    side dish
    bread (not every night)
    dessert

We minimize trips to the store by using fresh veggies first and then frozen.

I have the menu and grocery list in on Excel, and labeled by the month, I only repeat recipes every 2 years, except for the popular stuff like tacos, spaghetti, but I still make them differently.

Right now I have 5 different menus and grocery lists per month, and usually I only have t make minor adjustments to the list.

I can email you some if you want me to.

I'd love your recipes! I am struggling with coming up with ones that don't contain stuff I'm allergic too.

    WOW! You're amazing! That's crazy!
How log did it take you to compile all of these recipes that you use? Was it all done in a short period of time, or like a little added over years?

And if you don't mind I would love some of your recipes! I'm so bad at this meal planning this. DH is so picky, he hates cooked veggies IN anything, so that's a little hard.
