How much do you spend on Groceries??

I need to figure out how to reduce how much we are spending, and why we seem to spend SOOOO much on food.

The first thing we have removed from our habits, no more eating out.

We spend about $200-$250 a month on groceries for the 2 of us and maybe another $50 a month on eating out. I am a big coupon shopper and we can usually find coupons in Sunday paper or in the mail for restaurants in the neighborhood as well.

I budget $600 per month for groceries for the three of us, not including $70 per week for going out to eat.

We've got to stop eating out as well. It's hard trying to figure out our grocery budget now, because DH is home from deployment and his checks are going to be normal now. Problem is, he left as soon as we got here - so I don't KNOW what normal is. He was in the tax free zone for 4 months, plus he was receiving FSA so...I'm challenged.

I started with switching to the commissary for groceries (except produce).

We are a family of four (well, three now that DH is geo-baching) with 4 cats and a horse. I spend a total of $500-600 per month on groceries, hygene items, cleaning supplies and pet feed. I don't have it broken down to just what I spend on actual food for people, though.

Right now it's just me and I probably spend $300 every 6-8 weeks. Food seems to last forever with just me.

    We spend $180 - $200 every payday.

That doesn't include the extra $25 a week on milk
