OMG I so understand! We have 2 in this tiny place and have to put the liter box in the closet in the bathroom which is near our room
We have just had to bite the bullet and clean it out daily or every other day when we are lazy and we also use the Fresh Step lavender scented deoderizer... it helps some. With income tax we are splurging on an automatic Litter Maid... they are pricey but worth it in the long run.

We got a covered litter box and that helped a lot. Also we get the fresh step litter for odors or whatever it's called and no more smell!

change the brand you are using, and scoop at least every 2 days. also opening the windows helps.

personally i love tidycats multicat. unscented. but it must be the clumping kind, because otherwise your apartment will smell like cat urine. my apartment is only 700 something square feet, but now that i use the tidycat clumping multicat, it doesn't smell like cat waste.

Sprinkle baking soda into the litter!

Also, the litter crystals helped too!!!! Our litter box has a lid too!

Side question: How do you eliminate your cats from tracking litter around the house?

my gma swears by the sprinkles, either arm & hammer or tidy cat. you put some on the bottom when you do a complete clean out of the box & then sprinkle a lil on top each time you clean.

for tracking, put a mat in front of the box.

I had the same issue with our litter box here in this box house, we changed to Feline Pine and there is NO smell from his litter at all.
