Does anyone have any tips on decorating or organising a house, or know of any good sites?

i'm not very good at either of these things but i'll share what i do to try and keep organized! first off i love space bags!! they are great for stuffed animals, bedding and bulky winter clothing... although we will be gettin those out soon lol. the other thing i do is rubbermaid tubs!! i put EVERYTHING in them!! and then just stick em in the closet, it really cuts down on the clutter!

i have baskets sitting all around my house so that we can stick our clutter in them and it doesn't look so bad other than that i'm not much help as we 'clean out' our junk every 3-4 years atleast so we don't really have much that won't fit where it belongs...closets/cabinets

as far as decorating what do you like?

i like a primitive country type look...tender heart treasures is a good cheap site...i also like at home america stuff but it can be expensive (they do a great christmas in july sale on their site though) also ltd commdities is an ok place some stuff is just very poorly made so you do have to watch for that...i like to shop so i've just picked stuff up here and there also at places like lillian vernon, khols, target where ever i see something i think might fit with my home

Organizing: My SIL uses this philosophy: "If we haven't used it/needed it in the last 6 months, throw it out. We won't use it." (unless, of course, it's an "heirloom" or something treasured). I'm still working on being able to do this, but it's pretty liberating and really cuts back on the un-needed clutter. Some may call it wasteful, but I think it also helps you see what you DON'T need, so you'll quit collecting it.

    Decorating: Everything simplistic.

I'm not much help because I'm not great at organizing or decorating, but those are just the two things that pop into my mind

I found this site called Orgjunkie.com
It can help I think. It has a ton of ideas and links. She's very big on baskets. Every month she has her readers concentrate on one room. This month is the office.

I go to HGTV.com for decorating ideas. They have a section under decorating called Rate My Space. It has pictures members have uploaded of their spaces and readers have given suggestions and ratings. There's also a message board on that site.
