    Question Did you know?

    Advertisements
That you can't clean granite and travertine tile with regular household cleaners or it will royally mess them up?

I didn't, and I am SO glad the owner of the house we are buying told me about it! I would have screwed it all up within a week of moving in!

Yep! Our dining table is granite topped....

It's because the material is porous.

They have special cleaners for it. Or you can make your own cleaner. I kind of hate our granite b/c I feel like its not that durable and it takes up stains (from spahgetti sauce or anything with oils in it) more easily than other things.

Which is why we would never put granite in our home...our counters will be quartz, looks like granite but is far more durable.

The granite in our new house is black, so hopefully it won't take stains in that easily, or at least they won't be noticable. The present owner was really helpful and went through all this stuff with me on how to care for the tiles, counters and the wood floors. It was really nice and my realtor was impressed...she said she didn't know of any sellers doing that with any previous clients.
