This is going to be a long process...

I started painting my kitchen cabinets. There are a ton of them, so it's going to take me forever. I started with the cabinets above the bar area and it took two days just to paint ONE side (the cabinets open from both sides). These ones are taking so long because I'm painting the front and back of the doors since you can see them when you open them. I'm not painting the backs of the ones in the actual kitchen though. Here's a before and after shot. I love how they are looking so far. Way way better than the 80's brown.

Wow, it's neat how much it changed the look of the room.
Great choice! I'm definitely liking the lighter color.

I thought about it, but I'm not going to add knobs to all of the doors, just the ones you see right there facing the dining room. I'm going to be putting glass knobs there. Painting was my way of dealing with the fact that we can't afford to gut the kitchen for another couple years.

That was why we did it too.

Yeah but you guys did new counters too. I wish I could do that! We have that ugly faux wood grain crap from the 70's and 80's. I'd buy some nicer looking tops in a lighter color, but I feel like it would go to waste being there for only a couple years. When we remodel the kitchen we're putting in the quartz...Silestone counters.

Yeah, our counter was original 1973 with the house. It is really good that we did it when we did too, because there was black mold behind it. That was the only part we could pay cash for, that and a dishwasher. I have my priorities.

When we buy our house that we'll settle down in, it'll have tile counters, or I'll put them in.

Since you guys can't do the whole kitchen, painting the cabinets was smart It does a totally different effect with little $$
