    making your own furniture

    Advertisements
So because we have to purchase so many new pieces of furniture (by choice)--staple pieces such as a toybox, bookshelf for dd's room, storage/bookcase for downstairs, and a china display cabinet/curio cabinet we decided that perhaps we should build the furniture ourselves. We are planning on at least building the china/curio cabinet and bookcase/storage (like bookshelf with shelves on the bottom (think cubbies) and then doors on top). Also planning on building a toybox. The bookshelf for dd's room I am thinking we will buy.

I have made multiple pieces of our furniture... I did 4 years of woodworking. It can take time to make nice pieces but is SOOO worth it. I have designed my own pieces and I know no one else has pieces like what I have created.

I would do that too! I love doing things my self. You just get that feeling of accomplishment plus you make them the way you want them.

We make a lot of our own stuff, but we're both more for welding than woodwork, though we have done some.

Good luck! I can't wait to see what you guys come up with
