    Debbie Meyer's Green Bags

    Advertisements
    *10 day update*
ALL the food I stored is still crisp and fresh - NO KIDDING! Definately a good product! I only had to wipe out a few of the bags once.
    Green Bags earn an A+!!**

Well - they started selling these things at Walmart so I bought some and used them for: lemons, diced carrots, mini peppers, onions and garlic cloves, apples, pears, oranges and tomatoes.

I'll let yall know how it works - if it works - and the problems with them.

On the packages is says to make sure your foods are completely dry before bagging them and to wipe out condensation if it builds up - so that proved to be tricky for the carrots and the tomatoes since those tend to be extra juicy.

It also says to fold over the tops instead of twist-tying them because the twist ties might poke holes in the bags.

The bags are reusable - just wash, dry and there you go. They say they can be used 8-10 times so I'm estimating that you should probably knock a bit off that and expect to be able to use them 5-8 times.

But - what a product *says* is often different than what they actually *do* sometimes. As I've found in the past that sometimes the cost and "benift" doesn't outweight the hassle to use it (like my foodsaver, for example - great only if you've pre-frozen your uncooked meats, etc)

I put them into use 2 days ago - I left a few of these veggies in different bags to compare.

Day 3 - or is this day one?
I've only wiped the bags out once and that's because I didn't think to dry the fruit all the way before bagging it.

The kiwi - I'm surprised - is still good. I put them in just to see how long it will keep an almost-bad fruit from completely turning. The kiwi's were in my fridge for 2 weeks, I had completely forgotten about them and found them when I cleaned out the drawer. They're still looking pretty yummy

    Nothing looks any different, yet.

It's been so long I forgot about this post!

Well - my food's not looking a day over 30.
Ok - it's just been, what, 10 days or something and I swear it's still crisp and yummy!!
    I dig this product - A+!!

By this time I would have had to be sure we ate everything and some of it surely would have been thrown away.
Since hubby's at AT I'm certain, in fact, I would have thrown some out by now 'cause I can't eat all this by myself.

    LOVE IT LOVE IT

This is awesome compared to the $100.00 foodsaver system I bought which turned out just to be a waste of freaking money and actually was useless for certain foods!

Awesome! I definitely need to get some because we are constantly finding that our fruits and veggies spoil before we can eat them all.
