Utilities-- HELP!

Ok because I am kinda like this right now...

And it has been a long time sense I have worried about utilities I wanted to run everything by you guys to make sure I have everything (I don't want surprises LOL)

Electricity -- Dominion Power... have to wait to hear back from seller to make sure we are transferring service (want to be sure they have not turned the power off yet)

Cable -- Charter -- will be set up on 6/19

Internet-- Charter-- will be set up 6/19

Phone -- Charter -- will be set up 6/19

Fax -- Charter-- will be set up 6/19

Now I think I need to set up gas to right? It has a gas heater... I have never done that before

What about water?

sewage?

Anything else??

Well for us water, sewage and trash are all in the same bill.

If the seller is going to be contacting you anyway, I'd check with them to see what they had to do....

water and sewage is usually (always?) together, so just find out what the local water company is and look on their website/call them.

Trash is usually done through the town/city, so maybe see if they have a website. Sometimes you have to pay a fee, sometimes you don't (since it's considered part of taxes)-- it varies from place to place.

I would think you'd need to set up gas, yeah. So...find out who the gas company is!

Water yes. Sewage almost always comes with that! trash I have never had to deal with. And then yes you need to set up your gas. Some places gas and electric are together.

It soooooo depends on where you live. Some cities automatically have one company that does garbage and they bill you directly...I lived in an unicorporated area and had to find my own garbage company. Sometimes you have a water and sewer bill together, some houses don't have either bills, some only have one or the other. For instance my house had a well, but I had city sewer so I had no water bill, but did pay a sewer bill. You should be able to find out who the main gas company is on the cities website and contact them. You'll definitely be wanting gas. Good luck. Every house is kinda different in terms of what utilities you need. Best bet is to ask your realtor or the other owners.

trash is included in our taxes
we have septic so we don't pay sewer
water - we have a well but have to pay $235 every year because the main line runs through our front yard

You have to call the water company to have it go into your name. Water, sewer and trash is all one bill there (for us here it's separate and annoying ). You also need to call the gas company and have that put into your name as well
