Property Managers? Owning a rental property?

I'm thinking we're going to have to rent our house here in VA while we live in HI. I'd like to sell it, but it just doesn't seem feasible right now.

Does anyone have any experience with owning a rental property? How did you pick a property manager? Was it a nightmare? Totally worth it? Any advice that I should know going into it?

And does anyone in the Virginia Beach area have a property manager they recommend?

Hay, my parents used Remax in the past to rent their rental property. The last time around I acted as their property manager setting up the lease/finding renters/pre-inspection ect.

Good part of you doing it all yourself is that you get 100% of what is being paid by the renter bad part is you have to deal with whatever comes up

Good part of dealing with property manager is you don't have to have 1on1 contact with the renter bad side is you have a pay a portion of the rent to them to take care of everything.


Do you think you will have any trouble renting your house?

We manage our own rentals, but we also live in the same area so it's a bit easier.

Yeah, we'll be in Hawaii, so I think I need someone here. I wish I could do it myself.
