We have blinds on all our windows here... I haven't put up curtains here, but did in our last place. (I haven't here because I hate the brackets that are on the blinds, every window has "patio door" vertical blinds and it sucks) Our living room and Cam's room in the last place had valances, and our room had full length drapes.

Most of the windows have blinds on them. The front windows by the door - the little ones - have a see through panel curtain. I have a big bay window in the dining room that has nothing on it. I really like the light that comes in with it, but I may put something on it, since you can see in really well at night!

I got lucky and the lady that had the house before me left all the window coverings. Which i was very glad, they are all the really nice thick wooden blinds. I forget what they are called.

oh yeah, i forgot to say we currently have shades (or blinds) and curtains on every window in the apartment, but there are only 3 windows
the house has many more, and i'm unsure how to approach some of them. like the sunroom, it has 6 small windows on the sides. i think curtains & shades on all 6 windows AND the 2 sliding doors might be overkill. sheesh...

I have no clue what to answer because what we currently have, isn't by choice and will be changing soon. But, in the bedrooms we have stupid ugly plastic blinds. Those were on every window in the house when we moved in and we removed them all in the front areas. We replaced those with bamboo roman shades and over those will be my super awesome drapes once I purchase the rods I finally decided on. I've had these drapes for over 2 years now and still haven't hung them.
In the bedrooms will be white roman shades, possibly a light fabric so that light passes through, and again, curtains, but nothing heavy.
