Buying a house
Dh decided today that when we get to Kansas he wants to look into buying a house.
I like to look at houses for sale when I'm bored but the idea of buying scares the hell out of me. I'm afraid of that type of commitment ![]() He's really serious about it which shocked me too. We've talked about it off and on for a couple years but today he ran down his list of things he won't bend on and things he doesn't care so much about. I don't know if I should be afraid or excited

Its always exciting.
First though, sit down with a financial counselor and figure out how much you can reasonably afford to spend on a house. Why look at $500,000 homes and depress yourself when you can only afford $150-200. Good hunting!!

Yea houses in Kansas are shockingly cheap! I think thats what convinced Trenton now is the time. I found one I really like for 149 but I refuse to get attached to anything by picture only and until I know what our max budget is.

You know you can call someone and just get an idea of how much you can afford so you know what to look at before you get there.... Look up a mortgage broker, or a VA loan specialist in Kansas, and call em, tell them the deal... they'll ask you questions and then give you a general price range. Thats what I did, just so I knew what to start looking at/for.
