Photography Props - Sister's Birthday Gift

    Advertisements
I'm so excited about this. I made these for my sister's birthday (today) since she's into photography and she's also due at the end of the month with her second girl so these will come in handy for sure. I'm holding myself back from posting on FB or IG since I want to show them off so here you guys go!

The two cubes are a little dinged up on a corner or two each since I dropped them outside but still looks good. I've been wanting to make these for her for a couple months now ever since I saw them on etsy.

What do you think? My only complaint is the paper on the rectangle one not coming closer to the side edges but I had already cut the paper and didn't feel like re-cutting.

They're made from a 4x4 (actually, it was 3.5x3.5) with scrapbook paper, mod podge and vinyl. Super easy to make. The biggest pain was sanding them to be smooth on all sides.

I got the wood from Home Depot on the cheap since it was leftover from someone else's cut. Then measured and cut at home. After sanding, I wiped them with a damp towel to clean off all the sawdust, making it ready to paint white (leftover from a bench I made). A couple coats of that and they were ready for the paper part. I had never used mod podge before but that was easy enough. Coated the wood side I was prepping then coated the back of the paper (with the vinyl words/numbers already applied) and put it in place. Did all those steps yesterday.

Today I finished it off by applying two coats of mod podge on top of everything to seal it on. Easy peasy. I might make another one with the left over wood I have and sell it on Bookoo locally.
