Cross Stitch?
Anyone do it? Is it relatively simple to pick up? Where do you buy your patterns and all that stuff? I'm trying to find something to keep me occupied while DB is gone, and my mom has some cool stuff she cross stitched like 30+ years ago hanging in her house, and I'd love to make something similar!

I found it very easy to pick up. I get all my stuff at Micheal's. I enjoy it a lot, but I haven't picked up any of the projects I've started in a while

I do, I do
It is pretty darn simple depending on the pattern, material, and thread you pick. If you go with premade kits to start out with that'll probably be your best bet

I cross stitch - actually currently working on a project! It's easy or hard depending on the pattern you are working on. I like to buy counted cross-stich kits - that works for me. I've tried some more complicated ones - but you have to be REALLY careful to count the patterns carefully or else the end product will be messed up. If you are brand new to it, I recommend started with a smaller, simpler one. Wal-Mart has (or had... depending on if they still have their craft section or not!) smaller easy ones that are great for beginners.
I enjoy it. the bigger, more time-consuming projects get on my nerves a little bit, just because they do take so long to complete, but the end result is WELL worth it. It's because of this impatience on my part that I typically don't complete projects before starting new ones, but instead have sevearl projects in the works at the same time. For example, right now I'm working on the cross stitch, two quilt tops, and have a third quilt top ready for layering and quilting, and a fourth quilt that just needs the binding! |

I used to do cross stitch. I picked it up when I was pregnant with my first to keep me busy but have some unfinished projects that I would like to start again. But I have found that my eyesight isn't as good anymore so I need to get my eyes checked and then maybe get some sort of magnifier.
I really enjoyed it when I did it, and wish sometimes that I hadn't stopped. I was able to make some gifts for people over the years.
