Have you ever read...?
Has anyone ever read Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe?
It's a required read for my Intro to Sociology class. I am just starting it and wondering your opinion. |

I wanna say yes because the title and character names sound familiar. But I know I have the plot to a different story so it's gonna take me a minute to figure this one out.

I keep getting the plot of that one mixed up with 100 years of Solitude so I can't be sure. But the fact that I can't remember at least means it isn't one of the ones I couldn't stand.

Yes. I really enjoyed it.
I had to read The Heart of Darkness, The Poisonwood Bible, and finally Things Fall Apart for an AP English class in HS. I by far loved Things Fall Apart the most. But considering what it was up against, that's not saying a lot. I still think I was quite fond of it - especially the turtle story.

Yep. I read it in 11th grade World Lit, Honors English 201, and Sociology 101. I hated it every single time. The misogny enraged me. However, it was through that book that I came to understand and embrace my strong feminist beliefs, and it pointed me towards my Women's Studies minor. Since I loved that minor, I will begrudginly admit that the book had a purpose in my life. But I still hate it.
