Quilt for DH - in the making - Hobby Lobby

I'm making a quilt for my husband while he's away on his deployment. It's a special homemade gift to show him how much I care for him, even when he's not here. I have just completed the blocks today. They are all squared up and ready for assembly, just need to cut out pieces for the rest of it. There will be borders between the blocks, as well as an inner and outer border around the entire thing. Below is a picture of the blocks (two different onse), I will post more pictures when more work has been done.

I love your colors for that! May I ask why you have chosen to sash it? (Border around blocks?)... With a log cabin quilt... it is amazing to let the pattern come out.

I was kind of afraid of the colors "clashing" or getting lost in eachother if the blocks were attached one to the other. I hope that with a neutral, complementary border (sash? didn't know that was the word for it, thanks!) the colors and pattern in the blocks will really stand out and "pop" so to speak.
