DSLR cameras?? - Hobby Lobby

Did you learn to use one by trial and error? Did you take a class? Did you read a book? I've gone with digital cameras for a while now, but I'm getting more into photography and would love to get a SLR camera. Just wanted to see how everyone else learned. And do you have a good SLR camera you would recommend for a beginner??

right now trial and error, but I'm trying to take classes through Ritz Camera, but with me moving i gotta do some more research and find out what and when the classes are offered closer to where i'm moving too

So far I just learn by using it and reading things. I want to take some photography classes to learn netter techniques though. I just need the TIME to do it

I've just been learning mine by trial and error. I have a Nikon D3000, and I love it.

A little bit of trail and error, mostly reading stuff on the internet and in a couple of books I picked up. I have the Canon EOS Rebel XSi and I have really liked it for learning on. I don't ever use the automatic mode anymore, but it's nice to have it there so Rob can just put it on that if he's using the camera.

Trial and error at the moment but I'm having a lot of fun with it. There are a few You Tube videos too. I have a Nikon D40 and love it!

i'm debating on spending the extra $150 or so to get the Xsi instead of the XS. did you just start out with the regular lens that comes with the camera? does it zoom fairly well?

I started with a film rebel, then had a rebel xti, and I've upgraded once again.. but Rebels are fantastic to start with. They user friendly and did me well. The kit lens will work, it's not going to be a great zoom though. If you want to get more serious you'll obviously have to upgrade on your lenses because the kits are pretty cheapy.
