Like a baby hat? Or a big person, I suppose. I tried it before but failed. I can crochet blankets and scarves and that's about it. I just want to make my baby a hat since he/she already has tons of blankets.

Also I never took a class or anything so I'm not familiar with the abbreviations used in patterns.

I don't think so. I know the one major stitch and how to chain, that's about it.

Those round knitting looms make a hat pretty quick. I've made some cute pumpkin hats on mine for newborns.

you can do it rounds, or join at the end of each round. I've done it in a simple Double crochet.
Go to crochetville.org and there are tons of patterns and such. Can you read a pattern? if so you can google baby hats and find plenty. or just ask me duhhh.

might i suggest getting one of these, i always used mine, esp when starting a new project and need to remember how to do a certain stitch.
