Starting A Scrapbook??
Oookay.
So I'm new. To the site and db being in the military. He leaves for boot camp on Parris Island tomorrow. So first question... Db is very, very adamant about the fact he is NOT a Marine yet. And I get that. Totally and fully understand. But while he's gone...I wanted to make him a scrapbook of what he misses...so my question is would it be a bad idea to get him the Marine's logo scrap book...? I wouldn't give it to him until he graduates.... But do you see that as something that would be offensive since I'd be making it while he's...becoming a Marine? And I found a bunch of Marine paper and stickers and stuff to use in it...Personally I feel like it would be his journey to becoming a Marine...and not so much saying he already IS one. He has stressed to me that he has to earn this, and I get that. I totally do. But I just don't know if I'd be crossing a line making the scrapbook....about boot camp....before he's got the title. Any thoughts???? And second question...if the general consensus is that a scrap book IS ok...and I've got one or two actual Marines I'm going to ask as well...ANY HELP?!?!? I want it to look GOOD. And I am a very artistic person....VERY artsy/craftsy. I paint, I draw, I sew, I knit, I used to do pottery and make jewelry.... But I have tried scrapbooking before...not so awesome at that. I can make a collage like nobody's business though...but for some reason my scrapbooking attempts always seem...childish. Any websites that offer help or...thoughts? Thanks ladies!!!

I think that a scrapbook would be a great idea. Also, since you don't plan on giving it to him until he graduates, the Marine book should be okay. It would be his journey to becoming a Marine. The end result is that he is a Marine.
As for ideas, I usually buy idea books from craft stores (you should be able to find them at your local library if you don't want to purchase them). As for websites, I don't really know of any. But if anyone suggests one let me know. Good Luck!!! And remember to have fun!!!

I understand where he is comming from, DH is the same way... BUT!! At the same time if you wait till graduation to give it to him, then it in my oppinion would be a GREAT THING!! I mean especially after making it that far!! and earning it.... Im sure he will love anything you put together for him, even the smallest things are big when your away from home for as long as they are...
just BBM me is you need help!!

I think since you are not filling it with stuff related to his career it might be kind of weird.
![]() Personally I would still pick up the marine scrapbook and paper, and save it so that you can scrap pictures from his graduation and stuff related to him being a marine and his career. I would still make him a scrapbook of stuff he misses while he is in BC, but I think I wouldn't make it marine themed since it's stuff you (and his family or friends or whoever else you're including in it) are doing while he is away, not really marine related at all. Just my opinion.
