    Christmas Eve traditions

    Advertisements
    Happy Holidays everyone!!
This will be the first year that I知 not with family on Christmas Eve. This year DF and I will be driving up to family on Christmas Day so we get to celebrate Christmas Eve just the two of us, and I知 actually excited about it. Our time is very limited so I知 looking forward to quality time just hanging at home.

We値l probably just get some filet mignon and shrimp and make a nice dinner at home and watch a Christmas movie and call it a night - which sounds so nice lol

What do you all do on Christmas Eve? Is it a big deal, or just low key? What did you do on your first holiday away from family?

For me, Christmas Eve is a bigger deal than Christmas Day!

We’ve always done the meal and the presents on Christmas Eve. The kids get paper lanterns and send them up into the air, midnight mass etc etc etc. Christmas Day is for eating and sleeping. We don’t and have never done Santa, so...

Strictly speaking I’m still in Christmas mode until January. Oh God.

That sounds like so much fun!! My DF doesn't know how to ski but he wants to learn. I gotta get him out to try it, I haven't been in a couple years!

I told you we didn’t do Santa. That’s true, we don’t and we never have. Santa was never a part of my Christmas growing up, so he wasn’t something I introduced with my children.

That doesn’t mean my kids don’t get surprise presents. They would never forgive me if I told them we weren’t doing King’s Day. A box of grass and sugar lumps for the horses, cake for the three kings, shoes left outside the bedroom door...the presents will only be small (the rule is that they have to fit in the shoes) but they’ll come.

I can relax on January 7th.

That’s almost enough to make me want a winter Christmas.
