Thanksgiving Dilemma! - Happy Holidays

This just popped into my brain.

We usually say Grace before dinner on Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Normally wouldn't be a big deal, but DJ's co-worker is coming and she's Muslim.

Also, one of the guys is bringing his Japanese girlfriend.

So ... The majority of us are Christians of some form .. would you still do a quick Grace? Or would you just chow down...?

why not have everyone say a prayer on their own, silently?

You could always say something non-denominational - something along the lines of being thankful for the food on the table? :duno

Where you should respect their faith, they should also respect yours. I would either let everyone do their own silent prayer or allow everyone who wants to do their own thing out loud..

I agree - It may be interesting to see how it would be done through Muslim/Japanese perspective.

I'd say what you normally say since its your house. I bet it'll be fine if you say something simple like Sonia suggested

the baby's uncle is muslim and we usually just do a simple prayer...Thank you for this food..blah blah blah...
Or sometimes instead of a prayer..we go around the table and just say what we're thankful for.

I personally think that since it's your house and you've invited these people into it, they should respect your traditions, so I would do what you normally do.

I agree with some of the other girls. It's your house, and you invited them so I would go ahead and pray. They don't have to participate if they don't want to.

say grace. they are the guests and they can cope. besides, you wouldn't ask em to give up a prayer for you.
