Question i love dh's gift, BUT......

    Advertisements
it's not the right size. he got me a bike (which i already knew). it's a friggin AWESOME bike, but he told them i was much taller than i actually am and the bike is too big. he was very hurt that i complained about being unconfortable during our bikeride. but, what am i supposed to do? the handlbars are too far away and it hurt my back . i love the bike, and i told him that, but i will have to take it back he is so bummed that it wasn't "just right". he says they wont have THAT one in a smaller size and i'll end up with something entirely different that he didn't help pick.

am i wrong? am i supposed to just suck it up and deal with the size?

I don't think you're wrong at all, but it's natural for him to feel hurt. I'm sorry!

Can he go with you when you exchange it so he can help pick a different one?

If it makes you uncomfortable, you'll need to return it.

Just take him with you and he can pick out a smaller one.

i agree...take him with or have him look online and pick one out together. if it hurts to ride, you won't use it

Can he go back all by himself with your correct measurements and pick you out a new one? that way he'll feel like he got to pick it out still.

My DF gets all butt hurt when he gets me something that doesn't work for me.

I always say, wouldn't you rather it be something I can use and I'm happy with instead of something that that I'll never get to use?

I guess I'm tough but he needs to understand it isn't personal!

I don't think you're wrong at all about wanting to exchange it. Push the safety aspect along with the comfort to your DH. It's really not too safe to be riding a bike that is too large for you.

considering what the gift is, you need to be safe & comfortable to get the maximum use out of it. i'm sure he paid good money for it. you need to get the proper bike.
