does anyone know if it's illegal to trick-or-treat after a certain age?
i swear i thought i was always told that you couldn't trick-or-treat after age 16 or something like that. i live in virginia so maybe it's a virginia law? cause at school in north carolina everyone was going trick or treating and when i was like "uhh, isn't that illegal?" they all looked at me like i was crazy. i can't find any info online. and now i'm really curious. anyone know anything about it?

It's not illegal, just frowned upon. I know a good friend of mine is 26 and looks 12, so she goes every year,

I thought virginia beach was once you turned 13 you weren't suppose to. I don't know if they really enforce it though

i know in hampton, va the police will stop children that look older than 12. here in cali there were **** loads of teenagers trick or treating, i was about to grab me a bag and trick or treat with the kids.

I had posted about this not long ago because I was so shocked when I heard them talking about it on our local news. Here in Hampton Roads VA you have to be 12 and under to trick or treat. It actually a misdemeanor to break the rules here in certain cities.

Here are the rules from 2005....the ones for 2007 were about the same but I cannot find them right now for some reason.

wow I can't believe anyone would make trick or treating illegal! I stopped when I was about 13 cuz I felt silly but eh if someone else wants to knock yourself out.

How exactly did this come up on Thanksgiving

? The trick or treating laws make me think of the dumb laws that are on the books across our country. I think as long as you actually dress up, there shouldn't be an age limit. But no costume, no candy! That should be a law.
