I don't really have any other than the time my grandpa bought a pre-cooked turkey dinner from HEB, and my grandma baked the turkey like it was raw when she started... When grandpa went to cut it, it popped because it was so dried out... He made one slice and pow, the thing split open!

we don't really have any except for the time we did baked sweet potatoes instead of candied yams and our dog jumped up on the table (well reached onto the table he's a rottie) and grabbed the raw sweet potatoes and ate like 1 1/2 of them so 2 people didn't have sweet potatoes.

this didnt happen ON the day, but a few days before...
we had a ham like the weekend before Thanksgiving and the leftovers were in the fridge. My older sister wanted to heat them up and my mom (thinking it was in a glass container) told her to just put the whole thing in the oven It was plastic, and it melted and dripped and DESTROYED our oven. We couldnt get a new one delivered until after Thanksgiving so we got a premade meal from the store and my dad had to stand out in the cold heating it up on the grill

A few years back...My Step-Father invited us over for dinner at 5pm. He said he was doing the turkey on the grill. When we showed up, the door was locked. Hmm...so I walk to the back of the house to the deck to see the grill tipped over and a raccoon sitting on top of the turkey in the middle of the yard.
![]() Once they got home he was so pissed. I did not even dare poke at him for they being late to their own dinner party. We had to have ham sandwiches, with our stuffing!

We used to have a family reunion on my dad's side of hte family every Thanksgiving. We would have about 25 family members in total drive to Michigan from all over and stay at our house for the long weekend. The kids brought their sleeping bags to sleep in the basement while the parents all got either a sofa or bed.
Thanksgiving morning was a chilly one - we had a big snow storm, so the streets were covered in snow and ice. As my mom went to put the turkey in the oven (in the morning), she noticed that the oven was not hot at all! The oven was broken... of all days, it landed on Thanksgiving... with 25 hungry family members and a raw stuffed turkey. Luckily, we had our neighbor's house key, who was out of town for the holiday. She lives about 5 houses down the street. So, my mom and aunt bundled up and ventured outside with the turkey in the pot. As they're scurrying with a 20-something pound turkey in hand, a neighbor's dog (smaller) must have smelled the turkey and began nipping at my mom's heels as she's trying to get to my neighbors house. #1, she hates dogs - scared as heck of them. #2, the turkey was huge and heavy... she barely made it! Alas, everything worked out and we all had a hot turkey dinner. But it seriously reminded me of a scene out of "A Christmas Story"... SO FUNNY!!!!

Last year was my first time cooking dinner by myself. I knew about taking the giblets out of the turkey, but I couldn't find them. So I said screw it and cooked them. Dh found them when he started cutting the turkey.
I made candied yams for Dh. Apparently I didn't read the directions right and I put too much of the sauce or whatever in. It ended up being candied yam soup.
