corpsman s/o's

Question?! So DF today had a friend that's working at the hospital come to him and tell him he wanted to swap jobs. They are both corpsman but his friend from my understanding isn't FMF just working at the hospital there on base. DF has been dreaming of going blue side and didn't think he would have a chance for atleast another year. However now with this friend wanting to swap he's really considering trying to pursue it. My questions is how hard is it/or how likely is it that they could actually swap? He isn't sure of what he wants to do at this point he might not even really try for this. I'm just wondering if it's even realistic that this could happen?

I wouldn't think so simply because the friend hasn't done the FMT and from what I've heard of swapping it has to be a very lateral move. This would be alot of training the navy would have to pay for, and from that stand point I just don't see this as being a possibility.

What job is your DF doing right now? If he isn't using his 8404 at the current position I would think it *might* be possible. My DH is 8404 but isn't using it right now, just his 8425.

If the other guy has to be trained I don't think it's very possible.

He's 8404 right now. However, did learn the other guy hasn't done the training so I really don't see this happening at all. They would have to train the other guy. No not holding my breath for this one.

If the other guy isn't 8404 they won't swap them. They would have to wait for him to class up and go through Field Med, and that takes a couple months by the time a spot opens up there.
