Delayed Vax?

Anyone care to share any info on this????
I am ACTUALLY thinking of doing it

I was gonna delay the DTP shot, but I need it so I can get her ears pierced.

I know I want to delay other shots, but I just wanted other peoples opinions.


BTW... it does not mean NO vax... just delayed.

Well I delay vax for my youngest my oldest is all caught up on his for school. By the time Jacob is turning five he will be all caught up too. His 12 month shots he got when he was 14 months old the 15 months shots I will get when he is about 18 or 20 months.

If you hadn't already I would hold off on the ear piercing or at the very least find a pediatrician to do it rather then claries or wal-mart or anything like that.

Not on base she would have to find an off base pedi and pay out of pocket. In my mind if you absolutely have to pierce your babies ears that is the safest way to go about it. Their immune system is so new I would not want any old hack injecting my babies ears and honestly the people at claires, wal-mart, ice, etc are not highly trained professionals.

I know of an RN who owns a piercing shop. they do infants ears, if you're interested in more information

I was going to suggest going to a piercing shop if a pedi would cost to much. I thought people would think I was wierd though.

Yeah I know I used to work for Claire's. My training was pretty much doing 10 piercings on a foam ear and taking a one-page quiz and then they let me go at it. There's really not much to it though, you just have to make sure everything is sterile. They don't even use needles there, just pointed earrings that come in sealed containers and we still had to clean them off. A piercing shop might be better because at least they are more experienced.

Ella is about to be 2 next month and she still hasn't had her 18 mos shots. And Landen missed the cutoff for tricare so I have to wait till Sept 1st to get him shots and he's over 3 mos.

We delay & are selective with DD's shots. We have to do all of the school waivers & all that! DS was already up-to-date on all of his shots before I wised up!

Why do you delay the vax's? I had a friend in college who's legs were paralyzed because of a vax she got when she was an infant, and it caused swelling in her brain. Sorry I don't mean to scare anybody, but I'm curious if anybody has info on the different kind of vax's, and when I should get them for my child.
