trying to keep my head above water....

naps while teething
Did anyone have trouble getting their baby to take naps while they were teething? I swear since Ellie has been teething, she has NOTHING to do with naps. She gets soooo fussy and cranky because she is of course in pain, but also soooo tired! And she has even started to wake up after going to bed at night. She has been sleeping through the night (from 8pm-730am) since she was 8 weeks old! So for her to wake up in the middle of the night (like about 11 or 12) is really not like her!
Well anyway, for the last 2 days she hasnt taken more than an hour nap a day. And just now, I tried to set her down and let her fuss it out in her crib, btu I havent had to do that in sooo long, that it is hard again! So I couldnt do it. So I took her out and held her on my lap (sitting up cuz she screams if I lay her down) and she started to fall asleep in my arms, but as soon as I set her in her crib, she freaked! So it took me a while, but she is finally out of my arms and in her crib. I just keep saying to myself that its just from teething, but is it really?? Has anyone else gone through this?

Yeah, it can be from the teething....imagine if you had a toothache, right?
It hurts more when you move your head a certain way, when you're laying flat, and at night. Like, when you have the cold or the flu, its like your symptoms get worse at night...why, I have no idea, but everything seems to get worse at night. The pain is probably what's keeping her from sleeping, and keeping her from STAYING asleep. Call your doctor, but I'm pretty sure you can use Tylenol and/or Motrin for the pain, and of course, Orajel. DD JUST stopped teething really bad this week, so I just went through that. I know how frustrated you must be.

Thank you! Yeah its been pretty rough cuz she has been such an EASY baby up until 2 days ago! She has napped, ate, played great and even slept through the night until 2 days ago! It has been hard, but I know it will pass. The best thing right now, that i have found that works (or Toby found it
) is the little massager things you can buy at the checkout stand at bed, bath and beyond. Its the one with the three leg things and it vibrates, well anyway, she LOOOOVES to put the little leg thing in her mouth while it is vibrating, I think it feels good on her gums.

Preston is getting his bottom two teeth, and it seems like he has been sleeping more, so I don't know what to tell you. Then again, they don't really seem to be bothering him a whole lot either. He's always been picky on when you can lay him down after he's fallen asleep in your arms. He's taken very few naps in his crib, but has taken them in the swing, carseat, my bed, blankets on the floor. He's absolutely great with going to bed in his crib though at night...it's kinda odd
He was really bad there for awhile and would wake up if you laid him in his crib, so I started laying some thick blankets on the floor and laying him on that. He seems to go down better when it's a really cushy surface.
