today is my first appt - General Parenting

with my OB. it's at 1030 at the naval hospital. i'm nervous, dh is going to try and get home to come with me but if he can't i'm going by myself. i'm scared that i'm not going to hear the heartbeat. wish me luck

Good luck hon! Remember, it's still early to hear the heartbeat with a doppler, don't stress it if you can't hear it.

10 weeks is still potentially "too early" to hear it with an external doppler... Just FYI...it all depends on where the baby is positioned in your belly. I've had a few friends have a "no heartbeat" appointment at 10 weeks, only to have a followup at 12 weeks and have everything be okay.

well they said that this is when their equipment works best so that's why i'm going this week.

YAY! I hope your appointment goes well. I was 10 weeks at my first OB visit and we didn't hear a heartbeat until I was around 16 weeks I think.

I'm sure everything's fine.. maybe you'll end up like we did.. I had a sono at 12 weeks to determine my due date, but it was only because my periods had been seriously screwed up when I got pregnant.

i had some very very light bleeding last friday and saturday (i had taken a hot bath to ease a headache on thursday night and friday night) so that's another reason i'm so worried

Enjoy and do not stress. My Dr's here wouldnt even attempt to listen for the heart until 12 weeks with Ashley. Between 10 and 12 is when you can start to hear it. SOmetimes earlier and sometimes later but thats the norm. And the further you are the more likely you will hear it. Your uterus is still inside that pelvic bone just getting ready to pop out. So definatly do not stress if you cannot hear it.

I did hear Ethans at 10 weeks BUT...He skirted away from the doppler and we heard it only for a split second and she couldnt find it again. Thats why they usually wait a bit longer
