Two year old!!
My daughter's almost two years old and she's getting the worse attitude problem ever. She'll do things she knows she's not suppose to do and she'll just look at me and smile the whole time. So I end up putting her in time for a minute and she start inching her way off the chair I'll pretend that I'm doing something else and not paying attention. Then she'll just jumped off the chair and start laughing so I'll put her back. Sometimes though I put her in time out and she just screams and I try to tell her you know stop screaming and you can get out.
Nothing seems to work when it comes to her, I'll get down on her level and talk to her. I know she understands me, she's very smart. And I'll ask her question that she can answer. As soon as I'm done talking her, she goes and does whatever she was doing before that got her in trouble. I don't spank her, because I think its pointless, it did no good when I was younger. What are some things you've tried with your little ones? Because she's just getting so bossy and the attitude.

She's testing you. With my niece, when she acts out, we try our very hardest to not react in any emotional way. Keep a straight face. Don't even speak to her besides to lead her to time-out. Don't start her time-out timer until she is quiet. If she gets up, or starts talking/yelling/crying, stop the timer, and restart it from zero once she's quiet. (DN is a little older, though we did this at two, too.)
The reaction thing is the biggie -- if she sees that she gets some kind of reaction from you, whether positive or negative (frustrated, angry) that reinforces her behavior. Keep as straight a face as possible and say as little as possible until she has complete time-out, at which time you can explain things to her. HTH |

for reals, she started with them at about 20 months and its just getting so ridiculous. I'll ask her something, and she tells me no. Or she'll be getting into stuff she shouldn't be getting into and she's very into mine! Its just the attitude.

welcome to the club
![]() Stand your ground, she is just trying to see how much she can get away with. We do a combo of counting to 3, time outs and spankings if it is a dangerous thing that he knows better (ie:stool by the stove) he normally responds to my mean voice counting because he knows a time out and taking away toy or whatever will come from not behaving. ETA: if he has a huge meltdown I will hold him and look in his face and tell him deep breaths and I take yoga breaths with him, in the nose deep then out the mouth slow, he responds to that pretty well.

My DD turns 2 in december and this is how I feel lately
she has been horribly whiney and just disobedient. I'm sure bringing home a new baby has just intensified her terrible twos
